What could possibly be more fun for a child than opening up all their presents on Christmas morning? How about the chance to open up additional gifts as they arrive on their doorstop once a month? Subscription boxes are a fun way to treat that deserving person on your holiday list to monthly fun.
Various themed subscription boxes are all the buzz this holiday season and I will be sharing a few of my favorites I have personally checked out in upcoming posts.
To begin the Kiwi Crate is designed for the 3-7 age child that enjoys doing crafts, science, and art activities along with an adult. Sibling add-on kits are also available, so no one misses out on the fun.
I received the December Kiwi Crate (with a sibling add-on) for my twins to help me review and it had an Antarctic Adventure theme. Included were special booklets with complete instructions on each activity as well as all the supplies needed to create and enjoy them.
The first booklet was entitled "my penguin bowling" and the activity involves first decking out your cardboard penguin bowling pins with fun face stickers and drawing utensils. From there you can assemble the pins for play and use the provided balls.
The second booklet was called "my aurora postcards" and it allows for kids to channel their inner artist to create postcards of auroras in the horizon. Supplies for this activity included oil pastel crayons and watercolors.
The fun continued with the "explore more" booklet suggesting some ice themed activities that tie into the final object in our box, an adorable fish shaped ice cube tray.
For gift subscriptions givers can choose from 3, 6, or 12 months. Shipping is free and if you order today you can take advantage of their Cyber Monday sale - 40% off the FIRST month of Kiwi Crate

Also, they are giving away $1000 in prizes from PBK, Target, Kiwi Crate, and JCREW/Crewcuts in their "Here Come the Holidays Sweepstakes": http://bit.ly/UP70tR
Packing up for a fancy resort or visiting grandma for the holidays? Don't forget to bring your wifi.
And now for the extra fun part, here's a giveaway for my readers ...
If you have a tween daughter who enjoys reading, I'd highly suggest a new series my daughter and I had a chance to check out recently, "Almost Identical" by Lin Oliver. I don't normally agree to too many book reviews on "AndTwinsMake5", but two things convinced me I had to say yes to this request.
You may recall me mentioning in a post a few days ago how these monthly subscription boxes with various themes are hugely popular right now. Well, here is one called the Starbox and it is for the girl on your list who enjoys beauty products. You'll want to order it by Dec. 1st to insure they receive the very special box planned for December.
If you just can't get enough of those Christmas & Holiday programs, I've been rounding up the 2012 holiday tv schedule line ups of some of my favorite channels. So grab your cuddly pjs or fire up that DVR because here's the links:
