Disney's Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3, Viva La Fiesta on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Download

Fans who fell in love with Papi (voice of George Lopez) and Chloe (voice of Odette Annable) in the box office hit “Beverly Hills Chihuahua,” and their universally beloved litter of pups in “Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2” (the #1 direct-to-video title of 2011), will enjoy this exciting and playful new installment in the pedigreed franchise.

It’s canine chaos as Papi’s family (dog and human) move into the posh Langham Hotel, complete with a luxurious doggy spa. But there’s trouble in puppy paradise when Rosa, the littlest member of the pack, feels smaller and less special than ever. Now it’s up to Papi to help Rosa find – and celebrate – her inner strength, which turns out to be bigger than she ever dreamed and reminds humans and canines alike of the importance of family, friends and teamwork.
Disney does a great job once again of creating a movie the entire family can enjoy together.  This movie's quick humorous pace drew everyone in from my four year old twins on up to myself.  And never fail, there is a bit of wisdom to be garnered in the theme.  Even my little ones picked up on the importance of family message this movie touted.  Ready your mock margaritas and con queso dip this weekend and check it out!
Bonus features on the disc include the featurette “Hanging with Papi,” a playful look at a typical day on-set for Papi and both his human and canine costars, and the English and Spanish versions of “Living Your Dreams” an all-new music video performed by Raini Rodriguez, star of Disney Channel’s popular series “Austin and Ally.”

The Debris Inhibitor: Gold Toe's Sports Spat

To contact us Click HERE
I don't know about you, but since school and fall sports were in full swing I've felt like I could really use a weekend for my weekend.  There was the Friday night high school football game, a 5k race at the kids school, a jr. high flag football game, and a wake of gear for me to launder all covered in sweat and grime.

It's what I'm not cleaning up, that is the focus of this post though.  What I'm not cleaning up from this weekend are the turf beads that almost look like mouse droppings.  You know the ones that ultimately end up all over your entry and kitchen floor wear the kids dump their shoes?  If you have kids that play on those turf fields, I'm certain you can totally relate to my utter disdain for those little rubber particles that abundantly end up everywhere.

There's still some to find on my laundry room floor that entered clothing pockets and other crevices, but thanks to Gold Toe's new sport spat, the debris inhibitor, I'm not spending forever trying to banish them from the entry and kitchen anymore.  Gold Toe, the classic American sock brand, created this sports spat called the Debris Inhibitor that easily slides over the athletic footwear, thereby preventing these turf crumbs from bouncing into the shoes.  Bonus, the kids think they look cool too.

Ding Dong Diaper Ditch: You've been PAMPERed!

To contact us Click HERE

As many of you already know, I am a member of the Pampers Baby Board comprised (in my opinion) of some of the very best mommy and daddy bloggers around.  My involvement with this group has been the source of many wonderful experiences and ideas over the years.

And this latest diaper related inspiration might just be my favorite yet!  One of the fab PR folks at Pampers shared with us a "pin" she found on Pinterest (this one here).  The concept is a simple and fun way of gifting diapers to a new parent.  Essentially the sweet mommy featured in the "pin" decided to share an extra pack of diapers with a new mommy friend by "Ding Dong Diaper Ditching" this new baby's home.

How cool would it be if this diaper ditch movement really took off?  The concept is a perfect way to surprise new parents with a baby essential.  Better still, the fun delivery means there is no real intrusion upon the new parents.  One simply drops off the gift of Pampers and rings the bell as they rush off.

Pampers sent me supplies to help me give it a try.  I already had the perfect family in mind, but I felt this Diaper Ditch movement still needed a certain something.  I settled on a poem (you know like the "You've been Boo-ed" poem thing) to explain the gesture and maybe even motivate the receiver to Ding Dong Diaper Ditch some other deserving new parents in the future.  Here's my go at the poem:

I know, I know ... don't quit blogging to become a poet.  I do argue that cheesy is key for this sort of thing!  Think this movement will catch on?  The kids and I had a blast with our first Ding Dong Diaper Ditch.  In fact, we can't wait until someone else we know has a baby so we can do it again.

So what do you think?  Do you want to get in on the Ding Dong Diaper Fun with us?  I'd love to share your own escapades with my readers.  And by the way, feel free to borrow my cheesy poem.

Giveaway:  I have some Pampers Wipes and Diaper Vouchers to giveaway for a couple of you interested in joining in the Ding Dong Diaper Ditching fun.

Disclosure:  I was provided by Pampers with vouchers and supplies to aid with this post and the giveaway.  Cheesy Poem was all mine.

Disney will introduce its first little girl princess with the debut of "Sofia the First: Once Upon A Princess," an enchanting, music-filled animated Disney Junior television movie for the whole family, SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 18 (7:00-8:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel and THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 22 (9:00-10:00 a.m., ET/PT) on Disney Junior, the 24-hour channel. A "Sofia the First" television series will premiere in early 2013. The movie and series will roll out internationally through mid-2013 on both Disney Channels and Disney Junior channels.

Set in the storybook world of Enchancia, the movie introduces Sofia, an average girl whose life suddenly transforms when her mother marries the king and she becomes a princess, Sofia the First. Sofia must learn to navigate the extraordinary life of royalty while holding on to her own hopes and dreams. Her journey to being the best she can be also paves the way for those around her to realize how special they each are.  Disney's Cinderella makes an appearance in the movie to offer Sofia some words of wisdom – princess to princess.

WHATNAUGHT, CLOVER, SOFIA, ROBIN, MIA
Sofia's royal adventure begins as she prepares to move into the castle with her mom, starting a new family with her step-father, King Roland II, and step-siblings, Amber and James. Helping Sofia in her journey are the three headmistresses of Royal Prep Academy - Fauna, Flora and Merryweather (the beloved fairies seen in Disney's classic "Sleeping Beauty") and royal steward, Baileywick, as well as a group of cute woodland creatures led by a wise-talking rabbit, Clover. Sofia soon discovers that looking like a princess isn't all that difficult, but displaying honesty, loyalty, courage, independence, compassion and grace is what makes one truly royal.
Created for kids age 2-7 and their families, the stories of "Sofia the First" communicate positive messages and life lessons that are applicable to young children.  While she lives in a captivating world of castles, wizards and flying horses, Sofia remains a relatable peer-to-peer princess who is experiencing many of the same social situations as young viewers at home including learning how to fit in, making new friends and mastering new skills.
Events across multiple platforms will mark the debut of "Sofia the First: Once Upon A Princess" beginning Wednesday September 19 with the launch of the DisneyJunior.com/Sofia website featuring an introductory character gallery. On Friday, November 2, the site will expand to include a fully immersive experience where kids can create and personalize their own prince or princess avatars. A digital EP featuring five songs from the movie will be available on iTunes and other online retailers beginning Tuesday, November 13. A live simulcast on WATCH Disney Channel and mobile VOD for AT&T and Sprint customers will be presented in conjunction with the movie premiere on Sunday, November 18. The movie will also be available the following day on WATCH Disney Junior, Disney Junior On Demand and DisneyJunior.com.
"Sofia the First: Once Upon A Princess" stars the voices of Ariel Winter ("Modern Family") as Sofia; Sara Ramirez ("Grey's Anatomy") as Queen Miranda; Wayne Brady ("Let's Make A Deal") as Clover; Tim Gunn ("Project Runway") as Baileywick; Darcy Rose Byrnes ("Desperate Housewives") as Amber; Zach Callison ("Land of the Lost") as James; Travis Willingham ("Ultimate Spider-Man") as King Roland II; Jess Harnell ("Doc McStuffins") as Cedric; Ashley Eckstein ("Star Wars: The Clone Wars") as Mia the Bluebird and Meghan Strange ("Special Agent Oso") as Robin. Disney Legend Russi Taylor (Minnie Mouse), Barbara Dirickson and Tress MacNeille (Daisy Duck), bring Fauna, Flora and Merryweather, respectively, to life.  Jennifer Hale provides the voice of Cinderella.

With the arrival of Early Fall comes a myriad of toy launches just in time for the Holiday shopping season and we've been paying close attention here at AndTwinsMake5.com to bring you our favorites.

Worth noting is Mega Bloks recent introduction of their new First Builders line of preschool construction toys.  Mega Bloks sent us Dylan Dump Truck and Sonny School Bus, two of the vehicle sets from this new collection.  My twin boys love to play "trucks" as they call it and also enjoy "building", so a couple toy sets that mingle both  activities made for a big hit.
Both vehicles come with a driver, an area to carry items such as blocks on board, and 6 mega blocks that are compatible with all Mega Bloks 1+ products.  These vehicles were perfect sized for the preschool and under set, when used with Mega Blok construction sets the play seemed to extend for quite some time.
Transport the bloks in the vehicles, build a school, play school, create an earth quake, transport the bloks to a new location, and build again.

Crunch Pak FlavorZ infused Apple Slices & more

To contact us Click HERE
We are regular consumers of Crunch Pak fresh sliced apples for use in all 5 of the kid's daily school lunches.  The convenience of having the apples all sliced and individually packaged is HUGE for this mommy with the rush to get everyone out the door quickly with a healthy meal.

With this in mind, I was certainly agreeable to Crunch Pak sending us a sampling of their products including the new FlavorZ.  Crunch Pak FlavorZ are sliced apples infused with additional tastes for an added burst.  They come in three varieties Peach/mango, grape and strawberry vanilla cream.  While it may sound a touch odd to eat an apple slice that also has a bit of a grape or strawberry vanilla cream flavoring added, I'm hear to tell you don't know it until you try it before they are truly very good.

In fact, I didn't point out the added flavoring to any of the kids before popping them in the school lunches last week.  The kids all returned home asking about where I had gotten those new apple slices and how extra good the flavorings were.  I didn't just leave this up to the kids, I tried them myself as well and I have to agree.  The new Crunch Pak FlavorZ are definitely going on our shopping list.

Added bonus, Disney characters on the apple slice baggie packaging.  Though Crunch Pak Foodles still rules the clever Disney packaging award with their darling Mickey Mouse head package.  Mickey shaped trays are used to create mini snack containers filled with items like grapes, apples, cheese, yogurt, pretzels, and other goodies.

Disclosure:  I received products from Crunch Pak to facilitate this review.  All opinions expressed are my own.

Coming Attraction: ZamFest Kids Arts & Music Festival

To contact us Click HERE

When it comes to planning kids' festivals, some organizers draw inspiration from children's TV or even family-friendly events around the city.

Not Paul Kim, creator of the annual ZamFest Arts & Music Festival for kids. His inspiration? The uber-hip and decidedly un-kid-centric Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, which draws thousands of hipsters young and old to the Coachella Valley every year.

"It was great how (the Coachella organizers) focused on the experience itself, and it wasn't a giant commercial event," Kim said.

And that's exactly what he wanted to bring to the Los Angeles area -- not only for little Angelenos ages 10 and under, but also for his daughter, Zoe, who's now 8.

ZamFest, now in its second year and taking place on Sunday, Sept. 23, is a kids festival that offers a variety of interactive games and activities geared toward the right side of the brain, Kim says. Kids, he adds, are being shorted by LAUSD, what with all of the cuts, especially to arts and music classes, and he wanted to offer something to families that was equally as important as 2+2=4.

Not only that, but he was also less than impressed with other kids' festivals around town.

"I would take my daughter to kids' festivals, and over and over again I'd be disappointed," he says. "The focus wasn't on the kids. There would be booths of people selling stuff and maybe a bouncy house. I was really inspired by Coachella and thought that someone needed to put together what they did -- where festivalgoers are engaged with the experience and not the bottom line."

So Kim replaced the vendors with creative-based businesses (songwriting, music, paper-plane making) that would engage kids on a creative level.

He decided to call it ZamFest, both for Generation Z (aka, our kids now) and for his daughter, Zoe. While last year's festival took place in Long Beach to attract visitors from both L.A. and Orange Counties, this year, the festival will be firmly situated in West L.A., at University High School.

And that's not the only change. This year, to accommodate kids who are completely wrapped up in activities, Kim has gotten rid of the stage for live music, instead opting for a street performer feel, a la Santa Monica's 3rd Street Promenade. That way, kids can walk by and see the performers on their level instead of having to look up at a stage.

Sounds like an event that can inspire the kiddos -- especially his own.

"I've tried to include (Zoe) as much as possible," Kim says. "She helped design the T-shirt and logo."

And last year, he adds, "she was running around like she owned the place."

NCircle Entertainment's Back-to-School DVD *Giveaway*

To contact us Click HERE
School is officially back in session, and kids are getting into the swing of rising early and adjusting to homework. I know CC has had to get used to both -- especially the homework part, which was a bit of a shock after the playful bygone days of preschool. Luckily, courtesy of NCircle Entertainment, I'm giving away a few back-to-school DVD treats that should make the weekends extra fun.

The Gruffalo's Child, the sequel to one of CC's favorite short animated films, The Gruffalo, is the sweet story of a little girl gruffalo who wants to explore the world beyond the snowy cave where she lives with her dad. Even though Daddy Gruffalo warns her not to visit the deep dark woods -- and tells her a scary tale of the Big Bad Mouse -- this only serves to pique her curiosity more. She bravely sets off on her own in search of this mysterious mouse.

CC has had a lot of fun with this DVD, and I think a craft day is in store very soon. Noodly Doodly Things to Make, a show you might have caught on Sprout, offers kids and parents fun and easy crafts to make, including butterflies, as well as bake-sale treats. What I love is that Sean and friends Noodle and Doodle also encourage kiddos to clean up. Nice!

I'm a big fan of WordWorld. Any show that turns everyday objects into actual words and makes that fun for kids gets an A+ in my book. In WordWorld: To the Rescue, Duck and Fly want to be firefighters like their friend Firefighter Frog. But the gang -- and the kids at home -- have lots to learn about what to look for before they see a fire (*cough* smoke *cough*).

CC has really gotten into dinosaurs over the past year, so Dino Dan is always great for inspiring lots of prehistoric-based questions. In case you haven't seen it, Dan's the kid who uses his imagination to bring dinosaurs into real life -- well, only he can see them. On Dino Dan: Where the Dinosaurs Are, there are lots of story lines, from Dan teaching a baby Triceratops to outwit a hungry Spinosaurus to a sleepover adventure at the Royal Ontario Museum.

*** GIVEAWAY ***
I'm giving away all 4 of the above NCircle Entertainment DVDs!

'Won't Back Down' Review

If you're looking for a rousing, mom-friendly movie this weekend, check out my mom.me review of Won't Back Down, starring Maggie Gyllenhaal and Viola Davis.

The film, from Walden Media and 20th Century Fox, is about two moms (one a teacher) who want to fix their children's crumbling public school.

It should definitely get you fired up -- if only to finish that volunteer project you promised your child's teacher would be done by Monday!

'Guys with Kids' *Giveaway*

It's true that dads today are way more involved with their kiddos than they ever have been before. If you could have seen Ian five years ago, you would have noticed a certain little accessory hanging from his shoulders almost constantly. (And I mean CC and not some sort of man-purse.)

That's why NBC's new comedy Guys with Kids, premiering tonight at 8:30 p.m./7:30 p.m CT, seems more relevant than ever. Created by funny man and executive producer Jimmy Fallon, the show focuses on a trio of married and divorced, working and stay-at-home dads who are balancing their 30-something years with Baby Bjorns. (Have you seen the commercial with them in the bar?! Very funny.)

The show stars Anthony Anderson, Jesse Bradford and Zach Cregger as the dads Gary, Chris and Nick, respectively, and Tempestt Bledsoe, Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Erinn Hayes as the moms.

And, according to NBC, "no tantrum is too loud, no diaper is too dirty -- Nick, Chris and Gary are up to the challenge."

Stay tuned for my interview with Anthony Anderson and executive producer/creator Charlie Grandy!

Jumpstart Read for the Record *Giveaway*

You know I love reading -- and I especially love reading to CC. It's so important to both Ian and me that her world is filled with imaginative books that she can pick from every night before bed.

That's why I love programs that promote reading among children, and Jumpstart's Read for the Record is a great one. (You might remember earlier posts about the annual campaign here and here.)

This year, Jumpstart is hoping to break a record by having kids all over the country read the children's book Ladybug Girl and the Bug Squad by David Soman and Jacky Davis on Oct. 4. (Last year, 2.2 million people participated.)

CC and I read it before bedtime tonight, and it's an imaginative story about Lulu, a girl who leads her friends on a fun bug-themed adventure outdoors. But she has her own friendship lesson to learn when she does something without asking first.

CC loved the costumes illustrated in the book, and I know we'll be reading it again -- especially on Oct. 4. You can, too, by either purchasing the book or reading it online for free. Also ...

Disney's "Sofia the First: Once Upon A Princess" set to premiere on Sunday, November 18th

Mega Bloks Lil' Vehicles Toys (Giveaway)

Know a little one that would enjoy these?  Enter to win one of two sets being given away below.

Nascar Driver Casey Mears at the Chicagoland Speedway helping Disney & Pixar bring the Cars "Take Flight" Experience to little race fans

This morning I attended a preview right here in Joliet that featured Nascar Driver Casey Mears.  Mears was in attendance at the Chicagoland Speedway to help Disney & Pixar share an exclusive look at their new Cars Take Flight Products.  Additionally, Casey Mears, Chicago Bears Anthony Adams, Anthony's adorable son, and Olympic Gold medalist Sylvia Fowles checked out the special cars "Take Flight" Kids Zone along with invited media such as myself.

The center piece of the kids zone is a life-size Lego replica of Lightning McQueen said to have taken over 360,000 pieces to make.

The Kids Zone, located in Champions Park, is open to the public, Saturday, September 15 through Sunday, September 16 and will feature fun Cars “pit stops” including a puzzle station, Cars die-cast racing, games and story time. “Cars Toons” shorts will also be available for viewing and feature everyone’s favorite Cars characters, Lightning McQueen and Mater.  So if you are local like myself and planning to attend the race, be sure to check it out.
Attendees this morning also had a chance to check out the extensive new line of Cars "Take Flight" product line.  My four year olds are certain to be all over these new lines, especially the new cars die casts with wings!  Oh and would they be jealous to hear I tried the Cars 2 video game without them.  Watch for these and more at Nationwide Stores as well as exclusives to the Disney Store soon.
Disclosure:  I was provided with a Disney Cars Take Flight Gift Bag while in attendance.  All opinions expressed are my own.

Find out how to party like Papi, whip up his famous guacamole, and get Chloe's fashion tips along with fun activity sheets via the link below.
