One of my kids' favorite things to do is play dress up. I have an old suitcase and it's stuffed full of costumes, hats, wands.....all manner of things they can wear and pretend to be someone (or something!) else. My son usually changes outfits every few minutes, but my daughter tends to pick a costume and wear it all day. And sleep in it. And wear it everyday for weeks on end! Currently she's enamored with a purple and black spider witch dress and her purple fairy wings. I joke that everyone in town must think that's all the clothing she owns because it's all she ever wears anymore!Recently I discovered Wholesale Costume Club, an online costume store. I let my son choose a costume for this review, and we spent days...days....looking around the website. He finally settled on a Pinocchio costume.
(I tried and tried and tried to get a picture of him in the costume, but he flat out refused! He's in a NO PICTURES phase. What can ya do?!)
It's a really cute costume, and the puppet strings are genius, in theory. Unfortunately, they didn't work too great for us. The strings are attached to a harness you're supposed to wear across your back. Well, even on the tightest setting the harness kept sliding off my son's back. I think maybe his build is just a little too small right now. The jumper is also super short. He definitely could have worn a size larger, even though he's right in the middle of the size range we ordered. For now, he's using the jumpsuit to be a circus ringmaster (LOVE kids and their imagination!). And I'm holding on to the harness for when he gets a little bigger. because it really is a fabulous idea and I think it will look really great when it fits better!
If I had chosen to return the costume, Wholesale Costume Club makes it easy with an online return section. You can print a prepaid return label, and when your costume is received they'll deduct the shipping cost from your refund/credit. So what I may do next time is order a costume in two sizes, and then just send back the one that doesn't fit. The return shipping charge would be less than what I'd spend driving into the city, so it's a deal!
